Splish, Splash! First to Last

This colorful picture book combines a math theme with plenty of aquatic fun as 10 Gulf Coast animal friends meet up one by one for a rollicking game of under-the-sea volleyball.

FIRST on the scene is lonely Lill.
"Is someone here to play?"

SECOND is snack shack helper Sam.
"I'll join you right away!"

Both educational and engaging, the book's playful illustrations feature a seahorse, sea turtle, manatee, manta ray, and other Gulf Coast animals. Early readers will enjoy this fun story with a number theme, while more-advanced learners will benefit from the concepts of sequencing and the ordering of objects in a collection. Perfect for at-home learning or the classroom, this book is ideal for parents and teachers looking to explore early math concepts with young readers.

About Nancy
From Nancy’s website

Nancy wrote and illustrated her first children’s book, Shaggy, the Dog, at age six. She carefully put it in her Radio Flyer wagon, went on her first book tour, and made sure every neighbor bought a copy for the bargain price of ten cents. Nancy then decided to quit while she was rich and famous, and did not return to writing for thirty-five years.

A graduate of West Chester University with a degree in Elementary Education, Nancy has been a teacher, a counselor in an after-school program, manager of a health club, and a fitness instructor. When the youngest of her four children ran off to preschool, she began writing again. Her articles, stories, and poems first appeared in Highlights, Highlights High Five, Ladybug, Babybug, Family Circle, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and many other magazines, newspapers, and anthologies.

Nancy’s first book, Samantha Hansen Has Rocks In Her Head (middle-grade novel for ages 8-12), was published in 2008. In 2019, the book was reissued by Schiffer Publishing, and it now has a whole new look with updated information. The sequel, Something Is Bugging Samantha Hansen, hits bookstores in September 2019. Her other middle-grade titles include Just One Thing! (2016 Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Gold Award Winner) and Beauty and Bernice. Nancy is also the author of the following picture books: First Snow (2019 IPPY/Independent Publisher Book Award Winner), Storm Song, City Street Beat, Look What I Can Do!, Today Is A Beach Day!(forthcoming)and Pruett and Soo (forthcoming).

Nancy loves to present programs to elementary school children. With every funny, energetic presentation, she educates kids about the writing process and shares her journey to publication. She confesses to being a kid-at-heart, and easily relates to students of all ages.

She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and the KidLit Authors Club, a group she founded that consists of children’s book authors who band together to get the word out about their books, and sign and present together at bookstores, libraries, festivals, and conferences. Nancy is a member of the Rutgers University Council of Children Literature where she volunteers with other authors and industry professionals to produce the Rutgers One-on-One Plus Conference, a mentoring conference that encourages aspiring writers.

Nancy splits her time between the New Jersey countryside, where cows and horses still outnumber the new houses, and the seashore, where she is employed as an assistant librarian. Aside from the young readers and terrific teachers she meets, she’s inspired by nature, travel, and her adventurous family.
